Last week 50 percent of voters (including me) thought Asafa Powell would beat Tyson Gay in the 100 meter finals this past weekend in Osaka. Gay, must have heard about us naysayers, and in 9.85 seconds he shut us all up.No, he didn't lower the world record. But, he beat the world record holder, forcing him to tap out in the process.
So, more power to you if you picked Gay is this duel. For now, he's the world's fastest man.
He needs to work on his start and if it gets better expect him to break the record because his top end speed is unmatched. Just watch how he reeled in Powell:
